Starry Night Prom

Posted on Mar 01, 2020 at 0:00 AM

Many people with intellectual and developmental disabilities did not get to experience a lot of the typical high school traditions, such as prom and homecoming.  In order to give the individuals we serve a prom experience, foster an inclusive and welcoming environment,  and celebrate people of all abilities, New Horizons Behavioral Health  hosts the Starry Night Prom during the month of March.

This year’s prom theme is "Starry Night Prom: The Roaring Twenties" and features a DJ, dancing, heavy hors d'ouvres and the crowning of the Prom King and Queen.

New Horizons Behavioral Health Intellectual and Developmental Disability (I/DD) Services creates opportunities for life skills training, community access, integrated employment and leadership development for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities.  Events like this ensure people with disabilities are included in the community, and are able to experience many of the important milestones in life, as well as provide an annual celebration that individuals in services, families and staff look forward to attending.

Interested in donating a dress, suit or tuxedo to the event?  Please contact Susan Gallagher at 706-596-5517 or e-mail sgallagher@nhbh.org.
